Let's get the facts straight
Apr 21, 2021, 7:31 AM
|
|
1. Floyd was handcuffed and (I believe) had on ankle restraints as well. He was completely restrained. There were multiple cops on the scene in addition to all of the restraints to make sure Floyd didn't go anywhere.
So shut the hell up about kneeling on his neck because he was resisting arrest.
2. While he was completely restrained Chauvin kneeled on his neck for almost 9 minutes. Even through the crowd yelling that Floyd was becoming unconscious and unresponsive HE STILL KNEELED ON HIS NECK FOR 2-3 MORE MINUTES.
So shut the #### up about "it was just department policy"
Chauvin is getting exactly what he deserved.
Yall are so quick to jump to Floyd's arrest record but not Chauvin's disciplinary record while on the force.
And before it even begins yall can shut all the way up about "he didn't receive a fair trial"
Chauvin got more of a fair trail than George Floyd.

You find it necessary to chime in with this 'thread' on the heels of a verdict? It's over. Do you go through life with your '####' button proudly displaying your genius on all topics?
There's simply no reason for your comment/this thread. It's inflammatory...as typical. However, if you feel compelled to dazzle folks with your dim-witted insight...well...carry on.
Good Lowered....

Facts?
Apr 21, 2021, 8:24 AM

How about get your 'facts' straight before you post a rant about facts.
Did he, or did he not, have ankle restraints? You want to get the facts straight and then interject unknown information.
A bit ironic, don't you think?

https://apnews.com/article/0eeb28e505231ce153c60559c921f5d3Police, experts condemn knee restraint used on George Floyd Police around the nation and law enforcement experts on Thursday broadly condemned the way George Floyd, who died in Minneapolis police custody this week, was restrained by an officer who dug his knee into the man's neck, saying no circumstances warrant such a dangerous technique. Deeply disturbing video shot by a bystander shows Floyd handcuffed, lying on his stomach and seemingly subdued as the officer trying to arrest him pressed his knee down on Floyd's neck for nearly eight minutes. Some police officials and experts said equally shocking was something not seen in the video: Other officers on the scene apparently did not try to intervene even as Floyd repeatedly cried out that he couldn't breathe and moaned in pain.

The people still arguing that he should have been acquitted know that's wrong. And he was found guilty. Justice was served.

Ain't gonna change

You've got one crowd that pretends they know the law and they're just going to blindly support law enforcement in all cases because A. They enjoy the use of violent force on suspects and B. They think a few cases like this ultimately help the greater good if you let it slide.
The other crowd is racially motivated.
You just gotta figure out who is who. Either way, they're not changing. And in their hearts, they know Chauvin was wrong and should go to prison. They just don't want him to.

doesn't require intent to kill. Not sure if that changes your view or not.

Felony murder.
Should I bother doing the research on this, or have you already determined that felony assault cannot serve as the underlying felony for felony murder?

Assault is a felony for the purpose of felony murder under Minnesota law.

That's correct, and part of the jury instructions explained that they had to find that Chauvin intentionally assaulted Floyd.
The idea you're referring to, that the underlying felony has to be something completely separate from the homicide (like robbery, etc.) is a doctrine some states follow but not all. Minnesota law allows for assault to be the underlying felony.

it was a crime. I think it was manslaughter rather than intentional murder. The police need to be held to a higher standard though honestly.
