Opinions on Zamir White.

What is the prevailing opinion amongst you recruiting gurus about Zamir White. Is he really that head and shoulders above the other prospects out there that we are "putting all our eggs in one basket" so to speak? Seems that way, since we are not even offering other talent (like Master Teague) who show more of an indication that they would like to come here.
I personally think we are taking this approach (with NO inside info) because we are happy with our "Pat Hand" at this point, with Feaster, Ettienne, Fuller, Choice, Rencher already on board, and if we miss on White, no sweat.

Z is the real deal and will be a star player somewhere. I agree with your opinion of our present backs. I could easily see the improvement in Feaster last season as he was given more playing time. Dabo knows what he doing. White is just too good to pass up. I suspect we will be pretty good if he chooses to become a bulldog!

I hope that you're not under estimating Dabo's experience as a recruiter bc, I don't ever seeing him put all of his eggs in one basket. Maybe with a retirement savings plan, but not ever with a recruit!!!

That's true. We are waiting on White pretty much . I heard that from a Clemson analyst on Plylers show.

His analyst is one of the most accurate on recruiting at Clemson. I trust him as a lot of fans pay for his information.

Well considering the talent that the coaches are locking up on the D-line, it isnt very hard to understand why they moved on from Wynn.

the prevailing opinion seems to be...

...that in the area, there's Zamir White, and a whole lotta "meh" out there.
Zamir is seemingly a legit 5-star, meaning, an impactful guy who will feature and star in college and likely be drafted in the 1st-2nd round. He has the look of a Todd Gurley, a Bo Scarborough, a Leonard Fournette.
After that what you look for is the next tier down, the "legit" 4-stars, meaning, guys you would expect to be impactful in college and guys who will likely end up drafted (though not in the first round) by the NFL. These are the guys on the level of a Wayne Gallman, an Andre Ellington, a James Davis. There just do not appear to be a lot of guys out there like that this year in the Southeast. There might be some guys carrying 4-star ratings but it does not appear the Clemson staff regards them as legit because offers to these guys do not appear to be forthcoming.
Keep in mind here the operative word is "legit". Tyshon Dye and Adam Choice were both 5.9-rated, middle-tier 4-stars. Injuries certainly played a role but both have looked like 3-stars thus far in their careers...whereas while Wayne Gallman may have been rated a 3-star per most of the services he was in actuality a solid 4-star in quality; he was impactful in college and was drafted in the 4th Round by the NFL. Kinda the textbook definition of a 4-star college career.
These guys are worth having, but Clemson's coaches aren't offering at the moment, meaning: they're not sold what's out there is 4-star quality.
The next level down, then, obviously, are the 3-stars, guys who can play and are adequate in college but are not likely to make the NFL. It appears that there's a pile of guys like that out there that Clemson regards at this level that they could get...but Clemson's coaches do not seem particularly interested in getting "just a guy". It appears if they don't get White, they'd either prefer to bank the scholarship or wait to see if somebody like Etienne emerges late again this year. Which is probably the wiser strategy. You can always get a 3-star, especially if you're the defending champs; it's probably worth waiting to get an NFL-quality prospect.

He wants something Clemson won't offer. He likes the program, but UGA does offer it, so unless Trevor or Xavier can get in his ear and change his mind, he's a bulldog.

Meh....I don't necessarily believe that is true.
The staff usually immediately cuts ties with guys that are looking for extracurricular things...

And that's why we let up on his recruiting and aren't going for him as hard as we were.

I keep hearing this "all our eggs in one basket" like the coaches haven't been on the road for weeks now visiting players, including other RBs. I can think of 5 or 6 off the top of my head.
Zamir is head and shoulders above the other uncommitted RBs still out there that are considering Clemson. RB is not an urgent position of need for us. We absolutely can afford to wait for White's decision.

I would have agreed you until Pierce decommitted from Alabama. They only sign quality backs. White is the target no doubt. There is no way that Pierce, White, and Teague ends up at Georgia. If that happens, Georgia is doing some serious cheating.
