Win by 40 and everyone is talking about you being fired.I guess that's just how it goes.I hate it but to some extent he brought it on himself with all the late season collapses. I still have hope though and will watch my Tigers even if they end up in the NIT.

Fsu is not a good team this year. They're missing way too many players. They were down their best guard last night. Their m/o this season is play a close game or get blown away by 20 or 30 points. The ACC is the weakest it's ever been since its inception.
With a veteran team and a player like hall... and you could see the maturity and growth in Tyson as well as chase last season, a rookie hs coach would have as good, if not better record than we have now.
I don't know much about bball but even I predicted 19-4 going into Feb.

He is celebrated bc he took us to the ACC championship and it didn’t feel like a fluke. He had us with a good seed 3 straight years in March Madness. Now we failed in each of those tournaments, but there was a lot of hope and it felt like we were turning a corner.
Brad had a great chance to follow up the Sweet 16 team with another good season and failed.

I think a lot of it is just timing, ask at the start of the year if I would be happy with 19-7, 11-4 in conference, and I would say yes of course, ecstatic even, regardless of who we beat or lost against.
But when that comes after being 18-4 and 10-1 in conference, riding some great momentum, it really takes the zip off of it. Hopefully we can build some momentum here going into the post season though.

Listen, most of us share your life for Clemson basketball and like to see success no matter if NIT. But one win by 40 is great, but they have 5 games left. Most are mad because Brad is anchoring this program down with his late season antics. It’s frustrating winning these games like this, then losing the next by 20. So let’s see what happens.

I suspect the number of times Clemson has had a winning record in February eclipses ONLY the number of times we've won an ACC Tourney title...or perhaps the number of regular season titles...or possibly the number of ACC Tourney championship appearances. Regardless, it's quite bleak.

There is certainly a penchant for having multi-game losing streaks in February, but it's not quite as bad as you think.
Under CBB:
6 years with at least one 3-game losing streaks (2 including two such streaks, plus one amazing 6-game skid).
5 years with winning record in February, 2 years with even record, and 5 years with losing record.
2022 Started Jan 10-4, started Feb 11-9, started Mar 15-15. (3-6 in Feb, with 6 game losing streak) 2021 Started Jan 7-1, started Feb 10-5, started Mar 15-5. (5-0 in Feb, 5 game win streak in Feb) 2020 Started Jan 6-7, started Feb 11-10, started Mar 15-14. (4-4 in Feb, but 3-game losing streak) 2019 Started Jan 10-3, started Feb 12-8, started Mar 17-11. (5-3 in Feb, but 3-game losing streak) 2018 Started Jan 12-1, started Feb 18-4, started Mar 22-7. (4-3 in Feb, but 3-game losing streak) 2017 Started Jan 11-2, started Feb 12-8, started Mar 14-14. (2-6 in Feb, two 3-game losing streaks, also 6-game losing streak in Jan) 2016 Started Jan 7-6, started Feb 13-8, started Mar 16-12. (3-4 in Feb, two 2-game losing streak) 2015 Started Jan 8-4, started Feb 13-8, started Mar 16-12. (3-4 in Feb, two 2-game losing streak) 2014 Started Jan 9-3, started Feb 13-6, started Mar 17-10. (4-4 in Feb, but 3-game losing streak) 2013 Started Jan 7-4, started Feb 12-8, started Mar 13-14. (1-6 in Feb, two 3-game losing streaks) 2012 Started Jan 7-6, started Feb 11-10, started Mar 15-13. (4-3 in Feb, but a 3-game losing streak started on Jan 31) 2011 Started Jan 10-4, started Feb 15-6, started Mar 19-9. (4-3 in Feb, did lose 2 in row mid-month)

Get to the analysis you did. Thanks! That said, it's Brownell history under ACC expansion. I could swear there were whole Februarys when Clemson didn't win a game, prior to expansion. Maybe it just seemed that way.
And for the record, it's not a Brownell dig...merely me bemoaning the history of Clemson hoops.

What late season antics?

I keep seeing mention here of our seemingly annual “late season collapses” in basketball, but never any real data to support that.
In terms of recent seasons, we won four ACC games in a row last season to finish the regular season.
The year before, we won 6 of our last 7 ACC regular season games.
So these late season collapses some of you keep referring to are not recent, and they don’t seem to be a problem now. So why keep harping on something, other than you like repeating falsehoods in an attempt to criticize a coach and program you don’t like?

But clearly there is not, so let the witch-hunt continue!!!

IT was almost a better atmosphere when we had larry Shyatt and we would win 4 games total in the ACC and the good vibes (after a win) were far better then, than the W's these days. This new era of Clemson fandom stinks. You gotta be an idiot to get pist about a 40 pt win.

We are on track to miss the NCAA Tournament this year and this was supposed to be "The Year" for Brad Brownell. I trip to the NIT was not the expectation.

I get you want the head coach gone, but a couple of things you're saying here is just not accurate. Where did you get this was going to be " The Year"? At the end of last year most folks on here was saying this years team was going to be worse than last year. Dawes and Honor transfer out of the program, Hall not healthy, and uncertainties surrounding Tyson's return. People had this team chalked up to being in the cellar of the ACC. To hear some of you talk, you would think this team was 6-19 instead of 19-6. If you're a Clemson guy or gal, get behind these guys and let the administration deal with the coaching situation at the appropriate time.

Otherwise you would want BB gone too. That is, unless you enjoy mediocre basketball that sniffs the post season (and no, the NIT doesnt count) once every 7-10 years. Im sorry, but Clemson history aside, thats freaking pathetic.

Crimony. What would satisfy folks here? If Brownell merely lost in the ACC Championship game to Virginia and only advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals, would it be sufficient to merely fire Brownell after he was tortured for a while? I have never seen a person supporting a coach trashed by dozens, when you can barely find the supporter's fellow's post. Or has he been thrown off? I've never seen so many people so happy to see Clemson lose. This seems wrong to me.

You should research things before bringing it up as fact. CBB has no more or less history of a late season collapse than any other non elite program

Some people just can't be happy, just don't like the guy or are fans of other teams that just want us to go in the crapper next year. Clemson is having one of its better basketball seasons ever. Plus, baring transfers has a good team coming back for next year. Clemson firing a basketball coach that will likely finish in the top 4 in the ACC would be nuts. You fire a coach after a bad season, why would you fire a coach after a good season. This is a good successful season, enjoy it.

Based on what?

Here is the likely reality: 1. We wont win the ACC regular season. 2. We wont win the ACC tournament. 3. We wont make the NCAA tournament. 4. We MIGHT make the NIT.
Good Lord, if the above makes you giddy about Clemson hoops, I cant help you. The rest of us are sick of it and want a better product. Not sure whats so overtly confusing about that.
