So Tigernet got exactly what you wanted
Jun 7, 2015, 3:33 PM
|
|
Now former coaches in the Leggett tree and others are speaking out about how it was handled.
We've got the most respected college baseball writer in America slamming d-rad on Twitter.
We are getting statements from potential candidates mocking the way we handled Leggett and automatically taking their name out of the hat.
This is not only a baseball issue, but has quickly turned into an athletic department wide issue that shows just how we do business in Tigertown.
Leggett is one of the most respected coaches in college baseball. And though there were obvious reasons for some changes to be made, d-rad made a mockery of coach Leggett and we are all going to pay a price.
Yall better hope slick D-rad has a trick or two up his sleeve, but for now we are the laughing stock of college baseball

If there were justice in the world Clements would give him a private vote of confidence on Monday and fire him on Wednesday.

Let's face it, that is what this is about. Coots kicked our butt in CWS and won two titles and we had a coach that was never going to win it all

FlaSt fans as well.....after all, Mike Martin has been to the College World Series more than twenty times (and far more than Leggett) and hasn't won the crown.

that would seem to make Martin's CWS futility even MORE abysmal.....course, he's won about 1800 games and every once in a while will incur some grumbling in the stands

come to clemson, where the final 4 is not good enough!

The second loss of to the coots in both 02 and 10 were my two darkest days as a clemson fan. They sucked, but finishing in the final 4 is no reason to throw the baby out with the bath water.
but you are right, Leggett was held to a different standard simply because of who he lost to, rather than the accomplishment of being there.

If losing to the coots was what got him fired, he would have been fired when TDP was AD. He could have been fired in 02, 10 and 12.
So, you are saying he won the series with the coots this year and was fired???
I have not seen a single person that is not happy for what JL accomplished while at Clemson. Maybe Jack got his own self fired for setting his own standard and had not lived up to his own standard for several years.

Here is a novel way to solve this problem: Get an AD who is worth a crap! Who picks these guys? Why can't we get a good one? I have not been impressed by TDP nor DRad, and that is not my fault as a CU grad and fan. I expect the President and/or BOT to do their job so that we never get in fixes like these. I'm beginning to think that incompetence is the new norm...

I thought things might be better with Clements because it appeared he was fairly committed to sports at West Virginia. I know he didn't hire DRad but he seems to be wielding little positive influence. We need the Baylor AD. In 12 years has grown their budget from a fraction of ours to more and they compete for national championships at 3 of the 4 major sports.

I guess you still wish Tommy was our football coach too? Get over it..what happened needed to happen. Not terribly concerned what a writer and the coach from Michigan think about it.

some of ya'll need to take your valium and wait quietly in the corner until a new coach is selected. JL was an average coach who won just enough to keep his job over a 20+ year period. He brought home hardware exactly twice in that 20+ year period. 10% success rate is a worse record then the weather guy on Fox21...

Imo, whatever decision drad would of made it would of came some kind of scrutiny being involved. Could you imagine what the Clemson fans would of said if drad gave Leggett another year? I think the majority of us Clemson fans wanted a change. Leggett was/is a great coach but the fact is, he's been here for 22yrs and has never won it all. I personally think drad made the right decision to move this baseball team forward.

be stopped.
The trend was going south. Clemson baseball needed a change.
I hate to see anyone get fired, but coaching jobs are ALL about "What have you done for me lately?". And Leggett had not done much lately.

i did not know that there was a respected reporter.most of them are liberal's that probably never played a game of organized sports.yet they write as though they were experts on any sports subject.in fact there are a lot of them on tigernet.
i don't know what drad had to do with the ga tech probation, but since he was the ad, i would think he was involved.he was also an assistant ad with the coots.
however, i don't know if any of the accusations on here have any truth to them or not.
can anyone provide a link about some of the things that drad did or didn't do in firing jack, or are these things just your opinions.

Why Drad was ever even a candidate for the AD job is beyond comprehension. Drad is turning out to be TDP part 2, except without out all the stuttering at press conferences.

and just what did DRad do wrong?? I sure do not know what went down but I believe that Jack was offered a chance to stay with assist changes and he refused. he was asked to resign and again he refused.other than keeping Jack just what should have happened?? the change absolutely had to be made!So DRad ask for changes; Jack refused, DRad ask for Jack to resign and again Jack refused!now what does DRad do other than what he did????

DRad's first rodeo. He was expecting a backlash and IMO handled it perfectly. Once he makes the new hire, the Leggett story will be over.

All I can add to this is - anyone that did not want Jack fired has never run a successful business. This is not only business, it is BIG business.
Just deal with it and get back to work.

I do not know why Radakovich is getting attacked for executing a pivotal decision. Leggett was given clear instructions for the baseball program to get better for the 2015 season. The program did not improve in terms of win and losses and advancement in conference tournament and regional play. The decision to relieve Leggett in order to get better was made.
I look forward to the new baseball coach taking the program into the right direction: the College World Series.
