1 Chronicles 19:

"10 Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose out of all the choice of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians.

11 And the rest of the people he delivered unto the hand of Abishai his brother, and they set themselves in array against the children of Ammon.

12 And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will help thee.

13 Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight."

Here Joab made a plan and executed it to protect those he loved and was responsible for and finally trusted that God would suit Himself.

It wasn't a matter of whether or not God was going to see that he got a new house, car or job. It's was about his very life and life and death of his children and wife, mother and father and brothers and sisters...the health of his homeland.

Is that childlike faith? Only if you consider that children don't typically worry about life and death issues because they are ignorant. It's much easier to dismiss this 'Childlike faith,' Christ spoke of than to embrace it. There are two easy paths through this type faith.

One is to dismiss God, the Bible and the entire topic as a fable written to control the masses of the ignorant. The other is to simply accept that life, at times, hands you a fuzzy lollipop (1)and simply lick the crap off it and get to the good part. God never tells us to 'lick the crap off it.' He sends us to His Word which is the cleansing water to the troubles in our lives which sanitizes life's fuzzy lollipops.

Romans 10:

"13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

If you don't believe the Bible is God's Word you'll have to lick the crap off of a lot of life's lollipops.

1. One of my daughters (@ 3 y/o) stuck a fuzzy lollipop up in my face and told me to 'lick the crap off of it.' I took it to the sink and let the running water do the job.
