Get well, take care of yourself! Help the younger guys, graduate, and you may get another shot! #1 is your health for life, and a close second is to graduate……

Ouch. This sucks, both for him and Clemson. Hope he is okay.
I would love for us to go into the fall saying "This will be our starting O-Line for this season", especially after the musical chairs we were playing last year.

Noooooooo. We haven't even started spring.
Thank you big fella. Glad you're going to be with the team. You have tons to offer the group. So sorry to hear, I know you're devastated.
We'll be praying that you can get it fixed and pain free. You have a Clemson degree. That will take you wherever you choose to go in life.

Hopefully Ryan Linthicum is ready. He was the #1 center coming out of HS last year. Hope he knows the playbook like the back of his hand and hitting the weight room hard!

Trotter needs some work. I was really hoping that Hunter would be able to go back to his natural guard position. That's where we're lacking. We need to find at least a good grad guard.

I'm not saying Trotter isn't good. I just think lit will beat him out at center at some point.
Anyway, HR had been dealing with the stinger but he did give us a lift in the run game. Also think he'd been good and definitely 2 deep back at guard. Would have added good depth.
We were hoping to get support through the portal at interior before we received this news yesterday. All I'm saying is some experience depth at iol.

coaches were expecting the move and hopefully someone steps up in his spot. Hopefully, if he’s interested, Rayburn can remain involved with the football program.

If Linthicum isn’t ready, we have to find someone in the portal. Is anyone comfortable going into the season with only one player with experiment at center? And that one player is severely undersized.

A 3-star rated as #485 player per 247 composite. An example of good scouting and development. He will be missed. Hopefully he can put Linthicum under his wing and mentor him. Linthicum is the first true center commit that we have had in more than a decade. I’m looking forward to his contribution.

Dabo offered like 2 or 3 interior OL in the portal in Dec/Jan. Couldn't land one. Now you know why.
Wonder if the starting job was up for grabs then, if one of those kids would've taken the offer.

He did a decent job run blocking as a guard
Feb 17, 2022, 8:27 PM
|
|
once Trotter returned from his injury to take the Center position back. Rayburn was serviceable at center but wasn’t going to start there and doubt he was going to start at guard this year with the guys coming back there from injury. He will be missed from an experienced depth standpoint. Howard or Lithicum needs to step up as a backup at center and we may need to check the portal. The UVA guy would have definitely helped. It does mean we will sign 3 OL for sure this coming class

Speaking as one who has spinal stenosis, I couldn't imagine

getting my spine knocked around playing a contact sport like football. The medicos probably saved Hunter from winding up in a wheelchair or even worse.
Many thanks for your contributions to the program, Hunter Rayburn. Hope you are successful in whatever path your life takes you now after you leave Clemson.

Very sad news. No disputing that when he finally was "the guy", our OL became way better. That was very evident in the last several games of the season. Hope he heals up for a very healthy and productive life.

Transfer portal, Brian Greene, Washington State. High 3* Center. Has 1 year eligibility remaining. Could buy time to get Linthicum ready.

Rather see him retire/stop playing and be able to walk then to not be able to walk when he gets old.
