Coach Brad Brownell has been tooting his horn because no one else has.
“And I (I) deserve a lot of credit for that, a lot, because it’s been a 14 year journey, and we have a different coach or a newer young coach at the time, it wouldn’t have happened.”

It was quoted in perfect context. Raising money so he could build the program. Including going to an Elite 8. He made the statement that a younger or another coach could not have done what he’s done. So he was saying there is no one who could have achieved what he has a achieved.

I don't mind him stating facts about his success. He has done more for Clemson than any previous coach. Yea, he's been here for 14 years without what we fans call "acceptable" in performance, but in context, he's not claiming wins or should have been wins. He's talking about fund-raising and its effect on our making it to the Elite 8.
He's got the respect of his players, coaches, admin, peers and experts, but leave it to we the fans to disagree with them all because we ain't got enough Wians...
