Trump pushes for schools to reopen.

"President Trump claimed on Wednesday that the novel coronavirus has "had very little impact on young people," and said that NIAD Director Anthony Fauci's caution on reopening schools was "not an acceptable answer" while meeting with governors at the White House."

A hospital in the epicenter of Italy's coronavirus outbreak has seen a 30-fold increase of children with severe inflammatory symptoms most often associated with Kawasaki-like disease, according to a study published Wednesday in the medical journal The Lancet.
A hospital in the epicenter of Italy's coronavirus outbreak has seen a 30-fold increase of children with severe inflammatory symptoms most often associated with Kawasaki-like disease, according to a study published Wednesday in the medical journal The Lancet.
Why it matters: This is one of the first completed studies to examine the rise of an inflammatory illness that is affecting children — some of whom have tested positive for the coronavirus or its antibodies.

Trump is insulated from all that.

Each state has control over its school systems. If the state decided to open it's on the Gov, not the POTUS. Trump will play this exactly like he played reopening. Fauci will come out with a plan recommending when and how to reopen schools and governors will do according to what they 'feel,' is best.
There is no science to any of this. No science that mask work, or don't, no science that lockdowns work, or don't and no science as to whether children spread the virus.
Lotsa guessing but show me the studies, research and records or it ain't science.

Which is the hallmark of how incompetent Trump truly is? Declaring a National Emergency and then leaving Covid-19 response to underfunded states rather than a national plan in place is just a way of avoiding any responsibility for its outcome. "It's gross mismanagement that some states are underfunded". Which is just another way of saying 'let them die'.
He truly has blood on his hands. Not to mention, he is currently in court actively trying to take away the healthcare of millions of people...during a Pandemic. He is the Billionaires billionaire.
So, the next time a hurricane wipes out Florida, ### 'em, they're own their own.

Hyperbolic and unhinged much. Remember when the Dems trashed Trump for 'dictating' to the states. So he gives them guidance and leaves the decisions up to the governors? Probably not.
Typical libby, wants to have it both ways. BTW, you and the unmaskers are seriously SCREWED, right?
Biden and Barack are toast !! Deny it all you want, while I LMAO.

so if we were being invaded by a foreign army, we would just the states handle it themselves, form their own militias with no federal leadership?

Trump is only thinking about protecting himself politically. Politically it seems like it might be the right thing.

That's why the feds have the CDC and SC has DHEC.

But there's a difference. Trump has told the CDC to stand down, and ignored their data and recommendations. Imagine if he told our federal military to stand down and ignored them.
The CDC is our federal agency tasked with fighting this invader. And they've been hamstrung more than any President has ever hamstrung the military.

Venezuela sets new price controls, with eggs costing more than a month's wages
CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela on Thursday published a list of new price controls for 27 basic food items, fixing the price of eggs, some cuts of meat, and sausage above the monthly minimum wage President Nicolas Maduro set for the inflation-stricken country this week.
The move marked the return of strict state economic controls, after more than a year of relaxation in the face of U.S. sanctions. Maduro’s socialist government is now seeking to calm inflation in the face of a collapse in crude prices, fuel shortages and a national lockdown to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
According to a document published by Commerce Minister Eneida Laya on Twitter, products including butter and powdered milk will cost more than 400,000 bolivares, which is the new minimum wage the government set on Monday. That is equivalent to just $2 at the official exchange rate.
The document listed the prices both in bolivares and in Petros, a state-run cryptocurrency.
Private food-production companies and industry groups have warned that setting price controls will mark a return to the scarcity of basic goods that plagued the indebted OPEC nation for years, exacerbated by a collapse in crude prices in 2014.
Supermarket supply has improved in the year since the government relaxed price controls, but with inflation of 3,365% in the year through March, according to the opposition-held National Assembly, many goods were sold at prices beyond the reach of most Venezuelans.
The new prices set by the government are generally lower than current levels, but not by a significant amount.

We shut down to allow the hope of getting PPE to hospitals and 1st responders. Plus not overwhelm hospitals, no country can afford to shutdown for 2 years and pin their hope on a vccine that most likely never come .
Wear your PPE,wash hands, use hand sanitizer and wipes and protect YOURSELF. We cannot pay people to sit at home,it is simply untenable. We will see spread and deaths but in the end we cannot destroy the futures of everyone financially so that we save maybe 30% more lives than would have already been dead. It does not work on any model you pick to use.
We destroy the economy and enter something worse than the Great Depression and the deaths from violent crime could equal death from virus. We are not the same people we were during the Great Depression, norally ,ethically and it is simply because there may be too many of us. Rats in a cage , what happens when there are too many?
