Unbelievable difference in HS football talent between SC and

Louisiana? SC has a population of nearly 1/2 Million more than Louisiana yet according to Rivals, Louisiana has four 5-stars to SC's one 5-star and a whopping 14 4-stars to SC's 2 4-stars.
Can the disparity really be that large or are these rankings influenced by Louisiana recruits getting offers from Bama, LSU, and Auburn?

Dang, I was expecting you say North Carolina.
And the answer was that NC only plays with five kids and avoids touching.

And for my real answer.
Yes, SEC and the second item is a extremely large media market in Nawlins. You just have more media attention that is a native to the area compared to Atl/Char being technically out of state.

Along with that South Carolina is historically bad in the football talent department.
I'm sure there are some hidden gems here and there around the state but we are nowhere close to where we have been in the past as far as dominant athletes.

yes, kinda....agree with you there. I would also say a significant % of the total population count includes yankees from 31-0State in "communities" near the coast. The % of player pools between the state isn't as far apart but I think there is some bias there.

The disparity is pretty large

LSU was able to build a top 10 program and win 2 national titles pulling the lion's share of their talent right from their home state. Clemson can't do that. We can supplement our recruiting with some of the top players in SC, but we have to make our bones in other states like GA and FL.

I have a strong suspicion this has to do with SC is one of a few states that require Football Coaches and AD's be classroom teachers or School administration.

SC has as much high school football talent as Louisiana does however they are not rated as high out of high school because our state is not known for producing football players like LA and Alabama do, who by the way have similar population as SC does. Bottom line is it can be argued that "experts" under rate SC high school players because they are from SC. Here is a list of NFL players per state capita based on what state they were born in. SC came in 3rd and ahead of LA and Alabama. While SC high school players may not rank all that high out of high school we get our share in the NFL and I guess that is the ultimate measure of how good a player is. Impressive! Report post Posted June 26 To determine the top football baby factories, cleveland.com tabulated state totals for where NFL players were born and then calculated a ranking -- based on a ratio of current players from each state to births in the early 1990s when a big share of today's players were born. The top five states are all from the Southeast.
Rank State Ratio (y) NFL Players (x) 1 Florida 1 in 4,095 201 2 Georgia 1 in 4,132 114 3 South Carolina 1 in 4,745 51 4 Alabama 1 in 4,818 55 5 Louisiana 1 in 5,017 60 6 Hawaii 1 in 6,462 13 7 Mississippi 1 in 7,000 26 8 Nebraska 1 in 7,692 13 9 Nevada 1 in 7,833 12 10 Ohio 1 in 8,226 84 11 Texas 1 in 8,818 154 12 Tennessee 1 in 9,515 33 13 North Carolina 1 in 9,711 45 14 Wisconsin 1 in 10,786 28 15 New Jersey 1 in 10,809 47 16 Delaware 1 in 11,250 4 17 Oklahoma 1 in 11,333 18 18 Maryland 1 in 11,517 29 19 Arizona 1 in 11,680 25 20 Virginia 1 in 11,800 35 21 Pennsylvania 1 in 11,831 59 22 Missouri 1 in 12,577 26 23 California 1 in 12,809 199 24 Arkansas 1 in 13,545 11 25 Iowa 1 in 13,583 12 26 Oregon 1 in 13,769 13 27 Utah 1 in 14,182 11 28 Colorado 1 in 14,313 16 29 Idaho 1 in 14,600 5 30 Michigan 1 in 15,049 41 31 Minnesota 1 in 15,611 18 32 Washington 1 in 17,789 19 33 North Dakota 1 in 18,500 2 34 Illinois 1 in 19,452 42 35 Connecticut 1 in 20,400 10 36 Indiana 1 in 21,176 17 37 Kansas 1 in 22,857 7 38 South Dakota 1 in 23,500 2 38 West Virginia 1 in 23,500 4 40 Kentucky 1 in 25,222 9 41 Wyoming 1 in 28,000 1 42 Massachusetts 1 in 37,200 10 43 New Mexico 1 in 39,333 3 44 New York 1 in 42,552 29 45 Montana 1 in 49,000 1 46 New Hampshire 1 in 69,000 1 47 Alaska NA 0 47 Maine NA 0 47 Rhode Island NA 0 47 Vermont NA 0

Louisiana has a lower population and more players in the NFL than South Carolina, so how can South Carolina’s NFL Player per capital be higher? Your ranking is fake news.

This is representative of South Carolina's recent history in high school football. It does not represent what is currently here.
For example the 2008 class in South Carolina produced a ridiculous amount of talent that remained in the NFL for a good many years. Some are still playing.
There has been talent since then that has made the NFL as well. We WERE a strong state per capita for high school football.
However, 2018 and 2019 classes were not strong in the state. 2018 had a huge gap between the top several (maybe 5) players and everybody else. 2019 is very weak at the top past 2 or 3 players.
There is no depth in the state and this year with the exception of Pickens the state in lacking in superstars as well.

I have lived in Louisiana my entire life. The amount of football talent here is insane. I can’t explain it. The NFL is littered with Louisiana natives and has been for many years. A very large percentage are from New Orleans, such as Marshall Faulk, Reggie Wayne, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Leonard Fournette, Tyrann Matthieu, and Odell Beckham Jr.
In an article dated in 2016, Louisiana had the 7th most players in the NFL despite having the 25 largest population. The 6 states ahead of them in terms of NFL players all had top 8 total populations, making Louisiana’s NFL player per capital outrageous.
It’s the main reason LSU usually has the most number of players in the NFL on opening day despite the lack of team success year after year.
