Without the Pick 6, how dismal was Georgia's offense?
Sep 9, 2021, 9:06 AM

The talking heads all seem to think Georgia has what it takes to win it all this year, but what would they be saying if not for a pick 6 by their defense? Do you really think that 3 offensive points will win against Florida, Bama, and 2 other high quality teams in the CFP? Funny how a pick 6 all of a sudden makes you world beaters. Georgia better get it together offensively just like us.

So we can't stop anyone on defense? Enough with the towel ringing.

I haven't heard anyone say UGA is complete enough to win it all. People are rightly praising UGA's defense but Bama looks - again - to be world beaters. Of course 3 offensive points won't be enough to beat Florida or most anyone else. You expect others teams to hold UGA to 3 as Clemson did?

Same question back at you, do they expect everyone to hold Clemson to just a field goal???

Honestly think this is a silly question. If we played again Saturday, I don’t think UGA could hold Clemson the way they did. Teams, and particularly offenses, improve as the season progresses. And to be fair, this goes both ways.

Clemson's defense is pretty stout but the fact that Monken couldn't field but a two receivers (Burton/Saint Jack) with more than 5 receptions from last season is quite telling. Our leading receiver was true freshman TE Bowers. Kirby beat clemson with 5 of his top 7 WRs out. Hopefully we get some players to 100% very soon.

You must have missed the point. The Georgia offense did nothing.

Clemson's inability to execute on offense was the reason we lost. Any output at all and we win.
Please stop lauding Kirby as if he deserves coaching credit and especially basing it on your offense.

You guys really should stop some of the excuses...you act like Clemson's most senior DT Tyler Davis wasn't out...and starting safety Nolan Turner wasn't as well...and that Dabo didn't leave CB Fred Davis on the bench being disciplined...and that Lyn J Dixon didn't sit benched a half being disciplined (he hit a 10 yrd run when they finally did put him on the field)...

But there are no talking heads on TigerNet, just frustrated arm chair quarterbacks who want to criticize the coaching staff ,or to point out how we fared against teams over the past 5 years that were obviously better than us, or who think they have all the answers but not the guts to send a self addressed envelope to the coaching staff with solutions to the problems.

To be fair, these criticisms are annual criticisms several years in the making at this point. Poor oline play, outdated and unimaginative offensive scheme, and poor play calling. This is not a one game issue. Even the year we won the NC, the play calling was suspect.
I was hoping TE would self scout and come out with something a little different this year. If UGA is any indication, that did not happen. Not saying the offense was going to be world beaters against UGA. I just did not expect an absolute awful performance all the way around. Caldwell is Caldwell. As long as we keep him expect this type of oline performance against elite competition. Heck last year we could not really run the ball on anyone.
Not armchairing. There are concerns at this point that resonate in the coaching staff. Caldwell is a lost cause, but I hope Tony can figure out what we all see. Ie. More tempo, quick hitting passes, more running plays, etc. Also, what is a play that combats pressure and blitzes (not that UGA even had to blitz)? That is right RB screen. Pulling for TE to make the necessary adjustments.

UGA and Clemson are the two best defenses in college football this year. Period. Neither team will see a better defense over the next 11 games. This fact alone will help both offenses in addition to the fact that offenses are usually slower out of the gate vs. defenses.

based on our game. They're good no doubt, but let's see how they fare against seasoned and functional offenses, because ours was neither and made UGA look better.

They could at least run the ball a little when needed. I think they finished with around 100 yards on the ground and they were able to run the clock out on their final drive largely by just running right at us when we knew they were going to do so.

Absolutely, and I'm still wondering where is all the bragging, and talking up UGG-A is coming from bc, the game that was shown on TV, they won bc of one serious mistake made with the Int. Without that "One Play", it was a 3-3 game when the game clock expired!!!

UGA also ran the clock out when in all liklihood they could have scored at the end of the game. But technically you're correct, if you take away UGA's points Clemson would have won.

My thoughts exactly unfortunately. Who is to say that it is 3-3 when we go for it and the Dogs still run right at us down the field and kick a field goal.
The int played into how the game played out, I am hesitant to say without that INT our Tigers win the game.
With the way the O played somehow we lose I think. Bottom line our Tigers lost fair and square. It really stinks but at least it is early and we have rhe entire year to improve.

5 days since your spanking and we're still in your head. Looks like we were owning you in the fourth quarter quite nicely. Milton retired Zanders for the year in the 3rd quarter and Zues just steamrolled Goodrich in the final drive where we ran it for 3 straight first downs to ice the game. We started 2 freshmen at WR and TE and another walk-on at WR, all contributed. Our center didn't play at center and we lost our starting right guard in the first series but we somehow managed to beat God's Team. I'm really interested to know if our offense really sucked or your defense was just that good doh.

Says the Tiger fan who's team had 1 yard rushing and 90 total yards at the half. Does he think USCe will have more success than Clemson did? I doubt it. Speaking of Daddy's....whose yours? = Ga. I'm really shock Tigerlinks didn't mention those 3 nattys sans Scar.

You guys are making too much out of those 3 points. The game was that close mostly because we left points on the field. Our normally rock-solid Kicker missed a 35 yarder. How likely is that to happen in our remaining games? We also took a knee at the 10 yard line. Had we needed a TD there, we very likely would have scored. That's 10 points right there. I'm not sure the same can be said for Clemson. You had one red-zone possession. To be fair, it "couldda/shouldda" been 20-3, but we'll take the W as is. Y'all had some guys out, we had some guys out. I'm guessing that as those guys get back, and as everyone gets reps vs other teams, both teams will look better over the course of the season.

They will be good enough against their weak schedule to be 12-0 going into a date with Bama.
Just like we’re very likely good enough to be 12-1 after an ACC championship game.

IMHO Uga will be better on offense by year end! They were missing 3 five star WR/TEs, plus it was a first game jittery slugfest for them as well. However I think our D is better. Think about it...if our D was playing our O Saturday night, it would have been 0 points 100 yards or less
